Son of Robert S. Compton & Rebecca McCain Compton. George was the youngest of their nine children, all born in Montgomery Couny Alabama. George W. married Carrie West Hardy in Washington County Texas on October 12, 1894. They had two sons, Edwin Molton and George Howard Compton. Edwin Molton died in 1911. Carrie died in 1900 in Washington County, Texas, and George never remarried. Son, George Howard Compton married Lila Simmons at Poteet, Texas in 1923. They had two children: Helen Compton and Chester Clay Compton.
