Services for Lina Alford, 97 of Lufkin and formerly of Rockdale will be at 10 AM today in Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with the Rev. Jim Platt officiating.
Mrs. Alford died March 9, 1989. She lived most of her life in Rockdale. She was born on October 13, 1889 in Lott, Texas to George W and Ida Mae Rose. She married on April 11, 1907 to Thomas Ewing Alford in Rockdale.
Burial will be in the Forest Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Alford died Monday in Lufkin.
Mrs. Alford was a member of First Christian Church in Rockdale. She also was a member of Busy Bee's and New Salem Home Demonstration.
Mrs. Alford was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas E. Alford on Jan.23, 1964; two sons, Clarence E. Alford, on June 18, 1986, and Johnnie Alford on May 5, 1911; and a daughter, Luvenia Alford on March 9, 1923. She is survived by four sons, Weldon Alford, W.S. "Bill" Alford, both of Rockdale, James Alford of Taylor and Franklin Alford of Marlin, three daughters, Edith Brown and Mary Tuma both of Houston, and June Fenn of Lufkin; two sisters, Oma Tyler of Texas City and Laomi Clampett of Dallas; 32 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren and 33 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ed Burney, Adolph McVoy, Clifford Bartlett, Perry Luetge, Leon Noack, and Billy Gest.
Honorary pallbearers were Curtis Foster, J.M. Moorman and Dr Philip Young.
