George married Ida Smith 25 Jun 1879 in Burleson Co., Texas. (FamilySearch info - Source film #95657, Vol.5, pg. 15)

They were the parents of 13 children. Laomi Plant and George Griffin Rose was left out of the obituary.

Obituary: Rockdale Reporter, December 6, 1928

Mr. G.W. Rose was born March 6, 1857, and died December 5, 1928, making his stay on earth 70 years and 9 months. He was married to Mrs. Ida Smith, June 25, 1879. She was born November 27, 1864, making her age 64 years. To this union were born 12 children as follows:
Mrs. Mary Thompson, deceased
Mrs. Fannie Plant of Cameron
Mr. Jim Rose of Rosenberg
Mr. Ernest Rose
Mrs. Lina Alford of Hicks
Mrs. Eno Carter of Lexington
Mr. Frank Rose of Rockdale
Mr. Willie Rose of Rockdale
Mr. Dewey Rose of Rockdale
Mrs. Naomi Tyler of Texas City
Mrs. Ruth Beamon of Giddings
And 35 Grandchildren to mourn this death. He was a loving husband and a dear father though our loss is his great gain.

He first joined the Methodist Church and then joined and was baptized into the Christian Church in 1904, and has been a consistent reader and teacher of the Bible since.

He also leaves three brothers, and one sister, Mr. Frank Rose of Griffin,Indiana, Mr. Dave Rose of Benton, Ark., Mr. Henry Rose of Rockdale, Texas and Mrs. Annie Aikum of Laomi, Ill.

The funeral was held at Forest Grove Cemetery at 3 PM Thursday, December 6, 1928, Rev. L.O. Byerly officiating. Bro. Byerly was assisted by Bob Curlee, an old friend of the deceased, who made a talk at the service.

Mr. Rose died at his home four miles south of town in the Oakdale Community. The following poem was with the obituary. It was written by his sorrowing wife and children.

A loving one from us is gone,
A voice we loved is still,
A place is vacant in our home,
Which never can be filled.
