Tom was the eight of 10 children born to Robert Rogers and Abbie Randolph. He lived all his life in Lauderdale County.

He met and married Della Pendergrass on July 9, 1926 Florence, Lauderdale County, Alabama. They were living on the Weeden Plantation when their first child Jewel was born, soon after he went to work for TVA until after the war, when he went to work for the City, where he remained until he retired. He and Della had a family of 9 children, with 6 living to adult.

Mr. Rogers

Tommie Wesley Rogers, 67, 418 Conner; died at 4 am today at ECM hospital, following a two week illness.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Lauderdale County, a retired welder with the Florence Street Dept., and a member of the East Florence Church of Christ.

Funeral services will be at 2 pm Friday at Morrison-Elkins Funeral Home Chapel, with Barry Anderson, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park, Morrison-Elkins, Florence, directing.

Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Della Rogers, Florence, two daughters, Mrs. Opal Clemons, Waterloo, and Mrs. Sue Smith, Florence; three sons, Randy Rogers, Florence, Jerry Rogers, Birmingham, and Tommy Rogers, New Orleans; two brothers, Moody Rogers, Decatur and Pat Rogers, Florence; two sisters, Mrs Turner Young, Florence, and Mrs. Ethel Young, Indiana, five half-brothers, Gene Rogers, Birmingham; Frank Rogers, Memphis, Tn; Drewy Rogers, Indiana; Doyle and Huye Rogers both of Florence; seven half-sisters Mrs. Gertie Haddock, Mrs Daisy Peters, Mrs. Vernette Arnold, Mrs Annie Risner, Mrs. Faye Murphy, and Mrs. Mary Ester Murphy, all of Florence, and Mrs. Ruby Johnson, Indiana; 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Robert Moomaw, Noah Young, Bobby Clemons, Rex Woods, Peyton England and James Smith.
