Mabel Emelia Haugtvedt was born December 28, 1909 in Deer Township, Roseau Co., MN to Syver and Gina Haugtvedt. She grew up and attended school there and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She lived in the Twin Cities before moving to Florida where she had made her home the past 55 years. Mabel died of cancer on Monday, January 3, 1994 at her home in St. Petersburg, Florida at the age of 84. Funeral services were held at Bethel Lutheran Church in Greenbush and interment was in the East Bethlehem Cemetery, in Deer township, Roseau Co., MN. She is survived by a brother, Palmer, of Greenbush; one sister, Minnie (Mrs. Walter) Thomas, and many nieces, nephews and other relatives in the area. Preceding her in death were her parents, five brothers and seven sisters.
