Clara Seline Haugtvedt was born on January 31, 1892 at Tansem Township, Clay Co., MN to Syver and Gina Haugtvedt. In 1898 she moved to Deer Township, near Greenbush, in Roseau County, MN with her parents and siblings. There she attended school and grew to womanhood.

Clara married Albert Gilbertson on June 7, 1915 at Greenbush, MN. The couple farmed near Finley after their marriage, moving into Sharon in the fall of 1946. Five children were born to this union: Mabel Gertrude, Alpha Clara, Helen Sylvia, Arvid Gilmer, and Della Sofay.

Mrs. Gilbertson passed away Thursday, January 14, 1965 at the Union Hospital in Mayville, ND after being a patient there for two weeks. Services were held at the Ostervold Lutheran Church. Interment was in the Gilbertson Cemetery. The Gilbertson's would have observed their Golden Wedding Anniversary next June. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband Albert, 3 daughters: Mabel (Mrs. Earl) Anderson, Helen (Mrs. John) Obey, and Della (Mrs. James) McKenzie, 1 son Arvid Gilbertson, 11 grandchildren; and 2 brothers and 8 sisters, who all came for the funeral. Clara was predeceased by her parents, one daughter (Alpha), 2 grandchildren, and 4 brothers.
