Mr. Richard E. "Dick" Luke, 86, of Luke Road, Thomson, Georgia, entered into rest Wednesday, September 8, 1982, at the McDuffie County Hospital. Graveside services will be conducted Thursday at 3 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Bowman officiating. Pallbearers will be Richard G. Luke, Jerry McDonald, Jerry Livengood, George T. Stapleton, John Maciejewski and Thomas E. Luke. Mr. Luke was a native of Columbia County, Georgia, but had lived in McDuffie County most of his life. He was a retired farmer and carpenter, and a former employee of Mack's Ginn of Thomson. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Carrie Easler Luke; two sons, Robert E. Luke, Thomson, and Woodrow McDonald, Augusta; a daughter, Ollie Mae Harley, Charleston, S.C.; two sisters, Mary L. Johnson and Effie L. Gilmore, Dearing, Ga.; a brother, John Luke, Augusta; 18 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren. Johnson Memorial Chapel.
