Mr. John Howard Luke, husband of Mrs. Irene Kelley Luke of Gay Circle, Dearing, Georgia, entered into rest, Monday, October 29, 2001. Mr. Luke was a retired Civil Service employee. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2001, at Starling Funeral Home, Harlem with the Revs. Sonny Serigney and Ronald Hasty officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Augusta, Ga. Mr. Luke, a native of Columbia County, had retired from Civil Service. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of Sherwood Baptist Church. Additional survivors include one son, Marvin L. Luke Sr., Grovetown; one daughter, Ellen A. Hutto, Harlem; one sister, Effie Gilmer, Thomson; and seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Marvin L. Luke Jr., Stephen D. Luke, Ronald Lee Luke, Timothy A. Malin, Bobby D. Hutto Jr. and William F. Page IV.
