Mr. William F. Luke, 64, widower of Mrs. Ella Matthews Luke, entered into rest at 1 p.m. Friday, October 23, 1942, at his residence near Thomson, Georgia. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at Pine Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. T.A. Burrell, assisted by the Rev. J.D. Matheson will officiate. Interment will be in the churchyard cemetery. Pallbearers will be Alver Reese, William Stone, L.J. Norris, Hoyt Gumby, Hugh Gumby and J.D. Baston. Mr. Luke, a native of McDuffie County, was a highly respected farmer of this region. Survivors include seven sons, Richard E., James A., and Jesse Luke, of Thomson, William Luke of Edenton, N.C., Leonard Luke of Augusta, Private Thomas E. Luke of Camp Pickett, Va., and Private John Luke of Medford, Oregon; two daughters, Mrs. J.F. Easler of Thomson, and Miss Effie Luke of Augusta; sister, Mrs. T.E. Tant of Butler, Ga., and 10 grandchildren. S.A. Blanchard Funeral Home.
