Odella May (Moore) Derfler, 90, died Saturday evening in Silver Springs, Marland, where she had made her home with her daughter, Margaret Wright, for the past few years. She had been in failing health for some time.
The body will arrive Tuesday evening at the funeral home of Davis & Davis where funeral services wil be held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock. Burial will be in the Novinger Cemetery.
The daughter of Joseph M. and Catherine Ann (Rowe) Moore, she was born on a farm east of Gibbs on February 8, 1873. As a young woman she received nurses training at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.
On December 27, 1898 she was married to Dr. Morris Derfler of Novinger and to this marriage four children were born.
Surviving are her children, Marian Kathryn Sandburg and Morris Harold Derfler, both of St. Louis, Donald Derfler who is with a flying service in Arabia and Margaret Ann Wright of Silver Springs, Maryland; two brothers, F.R. Moore of Brashear and Dr. J.C. Moore of Hoopeston, Illinois; one sister, Mrs. C.E. Funk of 601 E. Pierce, and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, five brothers and three sisters.
Bearers will be Clint Barnhart, Wade Mauck, Dean Mauck, John Mauck, Clarence Hughes and Harold Wigal.
