Mary Merle Moore Funk, 88, formerly of 1007 E. Randolph, died Thursday night Feburary 2, 1978 at 10:45 in the Adair County Nursing Home where she had been a resident since June 6, 1977. She had been in failing health several years.
The daughter of Joseph M. and Catherine Ann (Rowe) Moore, she was born near Brashear on September 29, 1889. On August 26, 1908 in Kirksville, she was married to Claude E. Funk who preceded her in death on February 3, 1972. Also preceding her in death were five brothers, Wade Moors, Earl Moore, Leroy Moore, Cleve Moore and Foster Moore and six sisters, Morna Crossgrove, Maude Clark, Olivia Barnhart, May Derfler, Sylvia Anderson and Floy Mauck.
Surviving are one son, Vincent Dean Funk of Columbia; one daughter, Mrs. Harold (Catherine) Wigal of Kirksville; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon February 5, 1978 at two o'clock in the chapel of the Davis Funeral Home. The Rev. John Millsaps, pastor of the First United Methodist Church will conduct the services. Burial will be in Maple Hills Cemetery.
Bearers will be John Mauck, Wade Mauck, Dean Mauck, Morris Derfler, Donald Derfler and Eugene Dudgeon.
