Emory Wilcox Walton, born to James Emory and Ella Addison Walton, graduated from Wapanucka High School in 1920 and worked in his father's dry goods store before enrolling in Oklahoma University in Norman, Oklahoma. After receiving his degree as a Geologist, he began working in the oil business for exploration and leasing before moving and beginning to work for an oil company located in Wichita Falls, Texas.

While working here, he met his fiance, Louise Harrison, and they were planning a wedding when he had an accute appendicitis attack and surgery was required. He died of gangrene and Peritonitis which was the result of his appendix rupturing. A former classmate at Oklahoma University did the surgery on him.

His fiance, Louise Harrison, wanted him to be buried in the Graham, Texas Cemetery. She remained unmarried and died on October 14, 1962 and is buried in the same Cemetery as Emory Walton.. According to Jane Groseclose, Mardie Le Master and Thelma Bender named Ella Louise Le Master and Rebecca Louise Bender for Louise Harrison. Louise Harrison, born in 1905 remained single and was buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Graham, Texas in 1962.

Emory Wilcox Walton died on June 9, 1930 at Wichita Falls Clinic Hospital at the age of 27 years and 10 months. Emory's family, who were already making plans to move to San Antonio, had to travel from Shawnee to Graham, Texas for Emory's internment in the Wichita Falls City Cemetery there.
