==========
"E. J. HOWELL. In loving memory of our dear father, E. J. Howell, who departed this life December 27th, 1911. He health had been failing for two years or more, but had been able to be up most of the time, but we being shocked at once to know of his death, but the Lord 'who doeth all things' for the best called to that beautiful home that he had prepared for him.

"Loved ones, he leaves a broken hearted companion, four sons and three daughters to mourn his departure. While we mourn for him here we believe he had gone to be with the blessed Saviour, where his troubles and trials are no more. He was a devoted husband, a kind and loving father, always ready to speak comforting words to his family.

"The funeral services were conducted by Elder J. T. Satterwhite at Macedonia church where his membership was, there we followed him to his grave. 'Tis sad, sad indeed, to view the face for the last time here, but how sweet the thought of meeting in the sweet bye and bye.

'Farewell dear father and sweet thy rest, Farewell 'till in that happy
place We shall behold again thy face, Where parting comes no more.'
Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Howell"

(p. 286 in 1903-1912 section of ALLIE ABERNATHY'S SCRAPBOOKS 1893-1923: MARRIAGES, DEATHS AND OTHER ITEMS FROM CHAMBERS COUNTY, ALABAMA NEWSPAPERS compiled by Laura Abernathy).

"CARD OF THANKS. We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to our friends and neighbors for their kindness during the sickness and death of our dear husband and father. May God's richest blessing rest upon every one of you. Mrs. E. J. Howell and children"

(p. 286, same book)
