Andrew Jackson Dean was a native of Greene County, Va., the youngest son of Jeremiah and Lucretia Deane. "Jack" Dean and his wife, Ida, were the parents of 18 children. Jack and Ida resided in the Swift Run Gap area of Greene County, Va. Jack's brother, Matthew, married Ida's sister, Martha, and the couples lived in houses next to each other for many years.
Sometime after 1900 Jack and Ida purchased a farm and moved their family to the Linville area of Rockingham county where Jack farmed for the next 30 years.

Gravesite Details

Date of birth per death certificate is May 11, 1858. Year of birth, as inscribed on stone, is 1859 but other records have indicated 1861 as his birth year.
