According to the book, The Dean Mountain Story, by Gloria Dean (Appalachian Trail Club, 1982)* Jeremiah left Dean Mountain, at the age of 17, and settled in the area of Swift Run Gap, near Stanardsville, in Greene County Va., and married Lucretia Haney. They had 10 children together and Jeremiah died at 47 years of age. He was apparently buried at the family home at Swift Run Gap. *However, it should be noted that many of the details in this book in regards to James Dean's first family are either incorrect or fiction.
