JAMES "HUBERT" HARDESTY, 89, Brandenburg, died Tuesday, Apr 21, 1998 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. He was born Jan. 4, 1909, the son of the late Nicholas and Essie Payne Hardesty. He was a farmer, a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church and the former caretaker for many years of St. George Cemetery. Hardesty was preceded in death by 6 brothers, Eugene, Clyde, Robert, Vandee, Aloysius, and David Hardesty; 3 sisters, Eva Corbett, Corine Abell, Lucille Skelton, a granddaughter, Janice A. Barger, a grandson, Joseph Hardesty, a great-grandson, Bradley Rhodes and a son-in-law, Gerald Thomas. He is survived by his wife, Sarah E. Hardesty, 8 children, Martha Barger, Irvington, Sonny Hardesty, Cricket Fackler, Larry Hardesty, Sheila Pickering, all of Brandenburg; LaVerne Thomas, Vine Grove; Wayne Hardesty, Hardinsburg; Jerry Hardesty, Ekron; 1 sister, Margaret Richardson, Brandenburg; 25 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-greatgrandson. Funeral services were held April 24 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church.
