Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak, Iowa. She died Thursday, October 12, 1989 at Vista Gardens Care Center, Red Oak, Montgomery County, Iowa, following a brief illness.

Mrs. Hilding was born April 26, 1887, in Champaign, Illinois, to Arthur and Mary Van Kirk. She married John Jones January 3, 1904 in Coburg, Iowa. They had 11 children, Nora Irene, Orio LeRoy, Riley Elwood, Bonnie Cecil Margurette, Kenneth Martin, Chester Edwin Darrell, Naomi Pauline Crystal, Delmont Wentworth R. K., Jack Wilbur Melton, John Wilford VanKirk, and Wallace Keith. Following the death of her first husband, she married Lee Hilding November 7, 1945 in Topeka, Kansas. She came to Red Oak, Iowa by covered wagon in 1897 from Illinois and she moved with her family to Minnesota and Missouri before moving back to Red Oak. He was a homemaker and a member of the Methodist Church. She had been a resident of Vista Gardens for 1 1/2 months.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Nora Irene Abbott, 2 sons Riley Elwood Jones, and Jack Wilbur Melton Jones; brothers, William Charles VanKirk, Franklin A. Arthur Ervin VanKirk; and 3 sisters, Mary Elizabeth Purcell, Ella VanKirk, Bertha Cecil Ford.

Survivors include six sons, Lee Jones of Topeka, Illinois, Delmont Jones of Buffalo, Missouri, and Kenneth Jones, Chester Jones, Junior Jones, and Wally Jones, all of Red Oak, Iowa; two daughter, Bonnie Abbott of Stanton, Iowa, and Naomi Spittler of Tunas, Missouri; two step-sons, Oscar Hilding of Shenandoah, Iowa and Carl Hilding of Clinton; one step-daughter, Alice Bailey of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 38 grandchildren, 151 great-grandchildren, 116 great-great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-great grandchildren, one brother, Walter Van Kirk of California; and three sisters, Lena Porter of Springfield, Missouri, Pearl Summers of Estherville, Iowa, and Ruth Cass of Long Beach California.
