WLL KNOWN RESIDENT SUCCUMBS TO HEART ATTACK FOLLOWING AN ILLNESS OF EIGHT DAYS
FUNERAL SATURDAY
John Martin Jones, 63, died Wednesday morning at 3 o'clock at his home at 306 W. fourth Street in Red Oak, after suffering for eight days with a heart attack. The funeral will be held from the Sellergren Funeral Home Saturday afternoon, February 13, at 2 o'clock, with Rev G. H. Hulsebus of the Evangelical church officiating. Arrangements for the funeral are not complete but burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Jones was born in Gentryville, Missouri, April 19, 1878, a son of Joseph S. and Eliza Thompson Jones. He came to they county as a small boy, residing with his parents at Coburg. He was married there, Janaury 3, 1904 to Alta M. VanKirk, who survives him as do ten of the eleven children born to them, as follows; Mrs. Adrian Abbott, Nebraska City, Nebraska; Lee Jones, Pekin, Illinois; Mrs. Jess Abbott, Pacific Junction, Kenneth M. Jones, Red Oak; Chester Jones, Ben Garden, California (in Coast Guard service), Mrs. Les R. Spittler, Plad, Missouri, Delmont Jones, Camp Adair, Oregon, and Jackie, Junior, and Wallace Jones, living at home in Red Oak. Sister and brother also survive as follows: Mrs. Lee Fox, Elliott; Mrs. Watt Welts, Ponca, Oklahoma; Melvin Jones, New Market, and Ransom Jones in Missouri. Deceased resided in Coburg for 53 years, coming to Red Oak 7 years ago. He was employed by the State Highway Commission. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

JONES DIES IN COBURG 53 YEARS
RITES SATURDAY FOR HIGHWAY WORKER.
John M. Jones, 64, a resident of Coburg, Iowa for 53 years before he came here in 1936, died Wednesday morning at his home, 306 West Fourth, Red Oak, Iowa, of a heart attack, which he suffered eight days ago.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 P.M. at the Sellergren Funeral Home. The Reb. G. H. Hulsebus will be in charge.
Mr. Jones who worked for highway commission, came to this county in 1885, from Gentryville, Missouri, where he was born April 19, 1878, to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jones. He was married January 3, 1904, to Alta M. Van Kirk.
Survivors:
Survivors are his widow; seven sons, Kenneth, Jackie, Junior, and Wallace Jones of Red Oak, Iowa, Lee Jones, Pekin, Illinois, Chester Jones in Coast Guards, and Delmont Jones, Camp Adair, Oregon; three daughters, Mrs. Adrian Abbott of Nebraska City, Nebraska, Mrs. Jess Abbott of Pacific Junction, Iowa, and Mrs. L. R. Spittler of Plad, Missouri; two sister, Mrs. Lee Fox of Elliott, Iowa and Mrs. Walt Welts of Ponca, Oklahoma; two brothers, Melvin Jones of New Market, Iowa and Ransom Jones in Missouri.
Pallbearers will be Frank McGreer, Pearl Roberts, Jack Wilson, Warren Clites, Jap Houser, and Cliff Ackles. Music will be furnished by Mrs. J. M. McGreer, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Giles and Michael Harris. Mrs. Ray Briggs and Mrs. Fred Clark will care for the flowers.
