A short story. Back in the mid 5o's, My uncle Kenny, aunt Toots and cousin Jim lived on 4th avenue in Red Oak. They lived in a trailer and owned a black and white TV which had a antenna on a tall pole outside next to the wall of the trailer. Now when they watched it sometimes the signal would drift so Kenny would have to open the window and go outside to spin the pole and Toots would tell him when the picture was back on clear. Well when it become winter he got tired of putting on a coat and letting the cold wind come in the window and spinning the pole. Jim had a metal peddle car so Kenny went out and took the steering wheel, the shaft and gears off drilled a hole in the side of the trailer wall and mounted the steering wheel inside and ran the shaft threw the wall and hooked it up to the TV pole. Now he could stay inside in the winter and turn the antenna for the best reception. Now that's home town innovation to take care of a need
