JOSEPH MUENNINGHOFF, EX-COUNTY BUYER, DIES
Joseph Muenninghoff, 68, County buyer from 1940 to May 1, 1944, died at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at his home in Shively. He had been ill for several months and was forced to retire from office as buyer a short time before his term expired. Long active in Democrat politics, Muenninghoff served as County magistrate from 1913 to 1917 and as County commissioner from 1936 to 1940. In 1940 he was defeated for re-election as commissioner by Robert A. Fihe, Shively. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and former president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Rose Muenninghoff; five sons, Raymond J. Muenninghoff, Cleveland; Sgt. Richard F. Muenninghoff, New Guinea; Bertrand A. Muenninghoff, Leo G. Muenninghoff and Arthur Muenninghoff; two daughters, Miss Dorothy Muenninghoff and Mrs. George Kilijian; a brother, Louis Muenninghoff, and ten grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Helen's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
