R. F. MUENNINGHOFF, 41, OPERATOR OF TAVERN, DIES
Richard F. "Dick" Muenninghoff, 41, owner and operator of Muenninghoff's Tavern at 4014 Dixie Highway in Shively, died at 4:15 a.m. Sunday [February 26, 1961] at Veterans Hospital. He lived at 7712 Daffodil Drive, Pleasure Ridge Park. Muenninghoff played professional baseball as a shortstop with teams in the Cotton States, Southeastern, Eastern Shore, and Georgia-Florida leagues until World War II ended his career. The Army veteran was a member of St. Polycarp Catholic Church and the Shively and Jefferson County Sportsman's clubs. He was a brother of B.A. Muenninghoff, Shively City councilman. Other survivors include his wife, the former Clara Hopewell; two sons, Michael & Joe Muenninghoff; two daughters, Judy Kay & Vicki Muenninghoff; another brother, Raymond Muenninghoff; and two sisters, Mrs. William Whalen and Mrs. George Kilijian. The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Helen Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Andrew's Cemetery. The body is at W.G. Hardy Shively Funeral Home, 4101 Dixie Highway.

Beloved husband of Mrs. Clara Hopewell Muenninghoff; father of Judy Kay, Vicki, Michael & Joseph Muenninghoff; brother of Mrs. William (Dorothy) Whalen, Mrs. George (Alberta) Kilijian, Mr. B.A. and Mrs. Raymond Muenninghoff. Friends may call at the W.G. Hardy Shively Chapel, 4101 Dixie Hgwy. Funeral services Wednesday at 9 a.m. at St. Helen's Church. Interment in St. Andrew's Cemetery. Members of St. Polycarp Parish will recite the Rosary Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Chapel.
