Frank Hill "Pap" was born on September 5, 1924 in Harmony, a son of Millard Richard Sr. and "Jennie" Irene Rice Wachter and was the husband of Shirley Maxine Fogle Wachter, Sundays Lane Frederick, his wife of 48 years, who survives him.

He had been employed for 36 years at Fort Detrick from where he retired in 1979 and also worked part time at IGA Foodstore, Safeway and Bon-Ton, all of Frederick.

Frank was a graduate of Buckingham School for Boys Of Buckeystown. A veteran of the US Army and was a member of the Maryland National Guard, 29th. Division, of Frederick, was a member of the Fraternal Order Of Eagles, Aerie 1067, Frederick and a active member of the Faith United Church of Christ.

He was a avid outdoorsman and bingo player.

In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Michael Robert Wachter and wife Kimberly Ann, Mountaindale, and two daughters, Linda Diann Remsburg and husband Robert, New Market and Gayla Jean Smith and husband Gary, Le Gore, six grandchildren, Penny Renee Davis; Robert Lee Remsburg Jr.; Gary Wayne Smith Jr.; Jacob Bradley Wachter; Christopher Michael Wachter and Grayson Samuel Hill Wachter, four great-grandchildren, Amanda Lynn Remsburg; Chelsey Renee Davis; Shawn Allen Smith and Bobbi Jo Smith and numerous nieces and nephews.

Frank is also survived by two sisters, Louise Irene Chipley, Harmony Grove and Jennie Mae Dodson, Petersville, and three brothers, Edward D. Wachter and Thomas E. Wachter, both of Frederick and Charles Wachter of New Midway, two half-brothers, Calvin Wachter, Charlesville and Robert Wachter, Mountaindale, a devoted nephew, Donald C. Smith and wife Pat, Walkersville.

Frank was predeceased by brothers, Millard Richard "Bubbles" Wachter Jr. and Philip Wachter.

Funeral held at the Stauffer Funeral Home with the Rev. Marilyn Washburn officiating and internment made in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Hansonville by Stauffer funeral directors.
