Robert A. Sr. was born on June 16, 1902 near Charlesville, a son of Millard Richard Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Bell Wachter and was the husband of Mildred I. Keeney Wachter who predeceased him on October 17, 1970.
He was a longtime member of the Lewistown United Methodist Church.
Robert devoted his life to his dairy farm near Lewistown, his family and home. He took pride in building his own home in in his spare time, and he enjoyed hunting and ice skating.
Robert is survived by three sons, Robert A. Wachter Jr. and wife Margaret L, Thurmont; Carroll R. Wachter Sr. and wife Daphne, Thurmont and Charles M. Wachter and wife Victoria E., Frederick and three daughters, Jean E. Grant; Ruth V. Lenhart and husband H. Levi, Thurmont and Annamary F. Snider and husband Terry, Hagerstown,17 grandchildren 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Robert is survived by one brother, Calvin Wesley Wachter, a resident of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W. Va., and predeceased by one brother Perry Wachter and three sisters, Flora Michael and Mildred Towns and one that did not live to maturity, Helen Wachter.
He is survive by two half-sisters, Jennie Mae Dodson and Louise Irene Chipley and three half-brothers, Thomas E., Edward D. and Charles Wachter and predeceased by one half-sister that died before maturity and two half-brothers, Millard Richard Wachter Jr and Frank Hill Wachter.
Funeral held at the Lewistown United Methodist Church with the Rev. Susan E. Boehl officiating, pallbearers were grandsons, Richard Wachter, Harold Lenhart Jr., Bob Lenhart, David Lenhart, Ray Wachter, Larry Wachter, Rick Yinger and Bryant Snider and internment made in the adjoining cemetery by Stauffer funeral directors, Thurmont.
