KENTUCKY STANDARD OBITUARY - 06/12/1995
Joseph Linton "Bunk" Mattingly, 76, of Bardstown, formerly of New Hope died Friday, June 9, 1995, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Lillian Newton Mattingly; a son, Francis Gerard "Flood" Mattingly; his parents, Joseph Arthur and Minnie Lee Nalley Mattingly; and one stepson, Joseph Ray Clark. He is survived by his wife, Mary Cecelia Clark Mattingly; 10 daughters, Mrs. David (Ann) Mattingly of Lebanon, Mrs. Howard (Sarah) Hutchins and Mrs. Joe (Janet) Cissell, both of Loretto, Marlene Mattingly, Rose Marie Mattingly and Patty Mattingly, all of New Hope and Mrs. Jerry (Norma) O'Daniel, Mrs. Jackie (Mary Ann) Riggs, both of Bardstown, Mrs. Mike (Margaret) Reece of Louisville and Mrs. Mike (Theresa) Skaggs of Greenville; nine sons, Joe Mattingly of Louisville, Bernie Mattingly of Loretto, Larry, Anthony, Charlie and Bill Mattingly, all of Bardstown, Steve, Jude and Arthur Mattingly of New Hope; 57 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; one sister, Earnett Ballard of Loretto; eight stepdaughters, Mrs. Eugene (Betty) Newton of Holy Cross, Mrs. Charles (Ann) Cissell of Campbellsville, Mrs. Andy (Rita) Riedel and Mrs. Don (June) Fleming, both of Denver, Colo., Mrs. David (Polly) Lyvers of Bardstown, Marlene Clark of Culvertown, Mrs. Gene (Darlene) Armel of Madison, Ind., and Connie Martin of Frankfort; three stepsons, Frank Clark of Denver and Thomas and Donald P. Clark, both of Bardstown; 42 step-grandchildren; 29 step-great-grandchildren; and five step-great-great-grandchildren. The funeral will be today at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
