LOUIS MATTINGLY, 62, NEW HOPE AREA FARMER, DIES
Funeral services for Joseph Louis Mattingly, well known New Hope Farmer, were held at ten o'clock Tuesday morning, November 6, at St. Vincent dePaul Church, New Hope, with the pastor, the Rev. C. E. Reteneller, officating at the Requiem Mass. Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews, Leon, Marcie, Bernie and Anthony Mattingly, Randell and Stanley Ballard. Members of the Nelson County National Farmers Organization were honorary pallbearers. Louis Mattingly, 62, died unexpectedly Friday, November 2, at 1:35 p.m. in St. Anthony Hospital, Louisville, where he had recently undergone surgery. A native of Marion County, he was the son of Mrs. Minnie Lee Mattingly, of Loretto, and the late Joseph Arthur Mattingly. Surviving besides his mother are his wife, Mrs. Anna Mary Lyvers Mattingly; two daughters, Mrs. William (Mary Antoinette) Craig, Jr., Niantic, Connecticut, and Mrs. Raymond (Margaret Louise) Mattingly, of New Hope; one son, Joseph Bernard Mattingly, Orlando, Florida; a sister, Mrs. Estell (Earnette) Ballard, Loretto; two brothers, Rodney Mattingly, Loretto, and J.L. Mattingly, New Hope; 24 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The body was at Mattingly Funeral Home, Loretto, where a prayer service was held at eight o'clock Monday evening.
