Margaret was born at the farm of her grandparents near Windy Point, Pennsylvania. She died five days after suffering a stroke at the home of Arthus Humphrey, her daughter's home in Harrisville, PA.

She married William "Will" Critchlow on March 16th 1887. Her nickname early on was "Little Maggie" and later in life she was known as "Mother Critchlow".

She was the home maker of a large family, a farmers wife and a Sunday School Teacher at the Methodist Church in Harrisville.
