Brother Perry Burks, son of Bro. Hastin and Agnes Burks, was born October 6, 1894; died Jan. 26, 1919, age 26 years, 3 months and 20 days.

He was united in marriage to Elsie McDonald, March 9, 1913, and to this union were born three children—two boys and one girl. Bro Burks united with the Humphrey's Creek Christian Church in Oct. 1912, and lived in fellowship and communion with said church until God called him from labor to reward. He leaves to mourn their loss, wife, children, father, mother, brothers, sisters, many distant relatives and a host of friends.

Perry was an affectionate husband, a devoted father, obedient son and an ideal brother. He made friends with all whom he met because of his honesty, industry and befriending disposition. He was loved and well respected by all who knew him. He lost his health and for two years he was a patient sufferer until death came to his relief, and he was severed from all that was dear to him in this earthly realm.

The funeral services were held and conducted in the Mt. Zion Church by the writer, in the presence of a large congregation of relatives and friends who had assembled there to pay their last respects to one so worthy. The body was laid to rest in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. We pray that the relatives and all concerned may have the Spirit of God to comfort them. –Rev. C.M. Sooter
