Mrs. Nancy Logan died at the home near Antioch Station Thursday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock. Nancy Baxter was born in Virginia in 1816. When she was about six years old her widowed mother intended to move to Kentucky and when ready to start lost a horse which prevented her going. Nancy went, however, with one of the neighbors and it being expected that he would return for some of the members of his family after he had put in a crop. The neighbor died, however, before returning and Nancy never heard more of her relatives and never knew her exact age.
January 18, 1837, the subject of the sketch was married to David Logan and to them were born twelve children, nine of whom are living. They are Mrs. Martin Leach, Hugh, James, Rice and Sarah of Decatur; Oliver T. Logan of Elwin; George W. Logan of Pierson; Lafayette Logan of Colorado and William J. Logan of Eldorado, Kansas. There are also twenty-one grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
Mr. & Mrs. Logan came to Illinois in 1853 and with the exception of four years in Christian county spent the remainder of their lives in Macon county. In 1860 they moved to the farm house southeast of Decatur which has been their home since. Early in life, Mrs. Logan united with the Presbyterian church but did not removed her membership to the church after she came to this state.
The funeral will occur Saturday morning. The cortege will leave the residence at 9 o'clock and go to the Salem church where the service will be held and the interment will be at the Salem cemetery.
