Mrs.Mary Elizabeth Eichinge died on Sunday evening at 7:30 oclock at her home on the corner of Church and Eldorado street. The deceased was widely known in Decatur and Macon county where she had lived for many years and the news of her death will cause genuine sorrow among a wide circle of acquaintances. Up until last October Mrs. Eichinger was a woman of robust health. At that time she became afflicted with a stomach trouble and since she has gradually failed. About nine weeks ago her illness became so severe that she was forced to her bed and since that time she has never been able to leave it.
She is survived by a husband and one daughter,Miss Pansy Eichinger, two step sons,John and Will Eichinger, two sisters,Mrs.David Leech of Decatur and Miss Sarah Logan of Antioch and a mother, Mrs.Nancy Logan who lives at Antioch. She also leaves six brothers, Dod Logan of Pierson,Oliver of Elwin, Will and James Logan of Antioch,Hugh Logan,living north of the city and Rice Logan of Denver, Colorado.
Mary Elizabeth Logan was born Feb.5,1848 in Garrett county,Kentucky. In the fall of 1853 she came to Macon county with her parents and on July 12, 1881,she was married to Michael Eichinger.
Mrs.Eichinger was a woman of many excellent traits of character. She was sympathetic and charitable and throughout her residence in Decatur she performed many little acts of charity that made her a warm place in the hearts of those whom she aided. In all her charity work she was unostentaious and few person know of the work in this line that she has done.She was always a member of the Christian church and has for the past few years been identified with the Edward street branch of that organization. In her church work she always took an active and a leading part. She was also a member of Progress Lodge Daughters of Rebekah, the Eastern Star and the Court of Honor, With the various lodges with which she was identified she always took an active part and in every movement was one of the hardest and most earnest workers.
The funeral will be held from the Edward street Christian church at 2 oclock this afternoon. The services will be conducted by Rev.N.S.Haynes of Chicago, assisted by Rev. Marion Stevenson. The burial will be at Greenwood cemetery.
