Maggie was born on July 18, 1911 in Red River County, Texas to Richard Emmitt Batchelor and Rosie Viola Bishop.

Maggie had many brothers and sisters; Everett Leon, Emmitt Lee, Irene Agusta, Dessie Lorene, Lottie Cleo, R.V., Robert Daniel "Mutt", Ray, Della Fay and Delbert Savoyee (who died when he was 7 months old).

She married Herman Eddie Hamm on May 5, 1932 in Longview, Gregg County, Texas. To that union were born two daughters; Carol Mozelle Hamm and Lila Lynn Hamm.

Maggie passed away in Longview and was buried in the Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview, Texas.
