Mrs. Ella Frances Gallaher, aged 60, died about 3 o'clock Sunday morning, July 12, 1942 in Newman hospital at Emporia, where she had been for several days for observation and treatment. Mrs. Gallaher had lived in the Crandall neighborhood, southeast of Burlington for many years, and was The Daily Republican correspondent here. She is survived by her husband, C. C. Gallaher and a daughter, Miss Frances Gallaher of the home.
Ella F. Gallaher, second daughter of Sarah and Harvey Shannon, was born February 14, 1882, near Burlington. She passed away at Newman hospital at Emporia, July 12, 1942, at the age of 60 years four months and 28 days.
She attended rural schools in and around Burlington and was graduated from the grade school at Burlington. She also attended high school there.
On December 29, 1905 she was united in marriage to Carl Clifton Gallaher and lived on the Hiram Beall farm. In the spring of 1918 they moved on the place the had sought for their home and lived there until the time of her death.
Two children were born to this union. Olin Harvey, February 24, 1907, who preceded his mother in death when only a little over two years old; and Frances LaVerne, who has daught school rather than do other work she might have done, so she could be with her father and mother most of the time.
She united with the Crandall United Brethren church where she was a member at the time of her death.
Hers was a busy life, a great lover of flowers and her home, always of a cheerful disposition and a very ready willingness to be of any help or comfort she would be to anyone else. She will be greatly missed in her home and community.
She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, C. C. Gallaher and the daughter, Miss Frances Gallaher; three sisters, Mrs. Icy Mozingo, Parsons, Miss Mary Shannon, LeRoy and Mrs. Flora Decker, Burlington; four brothers, Tom Shannon of Parsons, and John, Roy and Harry Shannon, LeRoy and many other relatives and a host of dear friends.
