Memorial services for Flora A. Decker were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 1981 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Burlington. Fr. Earl Dekat was the officiant.
Mrs. Jim Rossillon was the lector, Mrs. Maurice Merritt was organist and servers were Lori Metzger and Monica Decker.
Honorary casket bearers were Paul Decker, Tim Decker, Roy Decker, Philip Decker, Marvin Decker, Robert Ridpath, Richard Ridpath, Glen Ridpath and Steve Ridpath.
Casket bearers were Don Ridpath, Jim Decker, Bob Decker, Kenneth Decker, Gary Decker and David Mefford.
Flora Ann Decker was born to Harvey and Sarah Slane Shannon January 17, 1889, on a farm east of Burlington.
When she was two years old the family moved to the Warren Crandall ranch in Woodson County and she later attended the Phillips school. At the age of fifteen, she moved with her family to a farm four miles northwest of LeRoy and she attended the Valley school.
On May 22, 1906, she was married to Joe Decker. In 1912 they bought the Throckmorton farm two miles north of Burlington and lived there for nearly forty years before moving into Burlington in 1951. Mr. Decker preceded her in death on July 17, 1968.
She continued to live in their home on north Fifth Street and it was there her death came in the early morning of Nov. 16, 1981.
She was a long time member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church of Burlington.
She was the last child of her family, having been preceded by her four brothers, John, Roy, Harry, and Thomas Shannon, and her four sisters, Icy Mozingo, Ella Gallaher, Pearl and Mary Shannon.
She leaves her daughters, Gladys Mays, and Hazel Ridpath; her five sons, Clarence, Arthur, Elvin, Virgil, and Lester Decker; twenty-six grandchildren; fifty-eight great-grandchildren; sixteen great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
