Funeral services for Harry Shannon were held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, June 20, 1968 at Damron chapel in Burlington. Carl Heien, minister of the Christian church was officiant. Mrs. Paul Damron sang "Rock of Ages" and "Abide With Me," accompanied at the organ by Mrs. George Salava. Casket bearers were, John Smith, Leslie Gray, Henry Hegwald, B. L. McGee, Clyde Bull and Orrie Dickason. Military graveside services and interment in LeRoy cemetery, LeRoy, Kansas in charge of Congdon-Kepler Post No. 38 American Legion, Burlington, Kansas.

Harry Shannon, the son of Harvey and Sarrah Elizabeth Lane Shannon was born January 29, 1891 at Crandall, Kans., and departed this life June 17, 1968 at the Coffey County Hospital, Burlington at the age of 77 years, 4 months and 18 days.

Harry was a farmer and the family lived in the Crandall neighborhood. Later he lived in the Valley Community where he farmed for 45 years retiring and moving to Burlington in 1947.

Harry was a veteran of WWI and belonged to the Congdon-Kepler Post No. 38, the American Legion and WWI Barracks. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Pearl Shannon, Ella Gallagher and Icy Mozingo; three brothers, John, Roy and Bert in infancy.

Left to mourn his passing is a brother, James Thomas of Parsons, two sisters, Mary of the home and Mrs. Joe Decker of Burlington. There are other relatives and friends. Harry will be sadly missed by his family and those who knew him.
