Mrs. Gatson was a beautician in Topeka and St. Louis, and she owned and operated the Four Corners Tavern south of Centralia. She also worked at cafes in Onaga, Valley Falls and several other communities in northeast Kansas.
She was born May 8, 1918, on a farm east of Centralia, the daughter of John Thomas Edman and Bertha Summerville. She attended the Neuchatel Community School through eighth grade.
She married James Gatson on February 16, 1951, in Westmoreland. He preceded her in death December 28, 1973.
Survivors include two step-brothers, Andrew Edman, Onaga, and William Edman, Lawrence; a sister, Golda Dillman, Topeka; six step-sisters, Opla Noland, Hoyt, Viola Harvey and Peggy Eisenbarth, both of Seneca, Valerie Brown, Wichita, Gladys Edman, Topeka, and Florence Ascheman, Blue Rapids.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Popkess Mortuary in Seneca. Burial will be at the Neuchatel Cemetery.
