Bobby Joe West was Rachel's son from an earlier marriage in Hollis. I did know him. He was born in 1924, Jan 17 and died 9 Aug 1994 in Wichita Falls, TX.

Joel (known as Joe) married (1) Mamie M. and they had a son, Lloyd Lavell. Shortly after his birth, Mamie killed herself in post-partum depression. Joe's widowed mother, Sally Ann, came to Hollis to live with him and take care of the boy. When he married (2) Rachel Baccus West, she had a son, Bobby Joe West.

Rachel and Sally Ann could not agree on the raising of the older boy, Lavell, and Sally left, marrying a man called Ring from Hollis. He lived only a couple of years until he died.
