Born November 17, 1907, Charleston, Wasatch County to Hyrum S. VanWagoner Winterton. Married Merlin D. Simmons, June 5, 1929, Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died June 22, 1980. Active member LDS Church. Served as Primary President, Choir Director and in other Church Auxiliaries. Member Adeline Chorus in Heber City; employee, Granite School District and LDS Church as cocustodian with husband.
Survivors: Sons, LaVon, Tempe, Arizona; Oren H., West Valley City; Jack, West Jordan; Clair, Mesa, Arizona; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Ralph Deloy, Mrs. Luella Walker, Mrs. Vern (Ruth) Huff and Mrs. Eva Kohkonen, all Woodland, Summit County; Van and Omni, both Roosevelt; Clair, loka, Duchesne County; Mrs. Malin (Stella) Lewis, Salt Lake City.
Funeral services Saturday 2:00 p.m., Charleston Ward Chapel, where friends may call Saturday two hours prior. Burial: Charleston Cemetery.
