Oren H. Simmons, Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, age 74, passed away January 7, 2006, in his home in West Valley City, Utah. Oren was born June 2, 1931, in Woodland, Utah, to Merlin D. and Grace Winterton Simmons. He graduated from Wasatch High School and served honorably in the U.S Marine Corps. He married his sweetheart Janyce Carlson, May 25, 1953, in the Salt Lake Temple for time and for all eternity. Oren was a professional hairstylist, educator and platform demonstrator. Always an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many callings and often shared his testimony through his actions, his love and his zest for life. During his last years he was beset by chronic pain and deterioration of his physical frame but his spirit and testimony was unshaken. Oren's family was supremely important to him. His legacy includes two sons: Kim B. and Tony Oren (deceased), ten grandchildren: Justin Kim (deceased), Nathan Glade, Meghan, Barbara, Judy, Nicole, Marc Phillip, Natalie, Jessica, Alexis; 12 great-grandchil- dren: Valora, Vance, Xela, Scead, Kallen, Colin, Treasure, Celeste, Hope, Abbey, Caitlen, and Skyler. A Viewing will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2006, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South. Also Wednesday, January 11, 2006, from 9:30 until 10:30 at the West Valley Utah Stakehouse, 3963 S Peachwood Dr (3480W), West Valley City, Utah 84119. Funeral services will follow this viewing at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at the Charleston Cemetery at approximately 2:00 pm.
