Death Comes to the Aged Man at the Home of His Daughter in
Nevada Thursday Night

Abraham Swartz died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Kate Gongwer, in Nevada, Thursday night at 11:00 pm. He had been hovering between life and death for many days, suffering with the infirmities of old age, and the end came not unexpectedly.

Abraham Swartz was born in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania on February 14, 1819, being in his ninety-third year at the time of death. At the age of seventeen years he moved with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Swartz, to Richland County, Ohio, where in 1844 he was married to Miss Caroline Balliet. After their marriage, they resided in Richland County until 1848, when they moved to Morrow County, making that place their home for twenty-eight years. They moved to Wyandot County in 1876 and settled on a farm in Antrim Township. There they lived until 1900 when they moved to Nevada. Mrs. Swartz passed away ten years ago. Eight children were born to this union, of whom six survive. They are Henry Swartz, southwest of Nevada in Atrim Township; Abraham, John and Charles Swartz and Mrs. Kate Gongwer of Nevada; and Mrs. Twilla Keller of North Dakota. Mr. Swartz is also survived by nineteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren. Mr. Swartz was a highly esteemed gentleman and was well known throughout the county.

The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm from the Gongwer home, conducted by Rev. W. C. Laughbaum, Pastor of the Nevada Lutheran Church. Interment will be made in the Nevada Cemetery.
