Greenfield Rites Are Held Monday For W.J. Jantz
Services for W.J. (Bill) Jantz, a retired Fort Cobb farmer, were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Greenfield Mennonite church, near Alden. Rev. Curt Base, a former pastor, presided. Burial was in the Greenfield cemetery.
Jantz, 74, brother of Mrs. Lena Harrell and Mrs. Mary Schmidt, Carnegie, died of a heart attack Friday night while visiting in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Willa Dean Wilson at Carmen.
He was born July 16, 1894, at Halsted, Kans., and moved to the Alden area in 1920. He was married to Lena Boese in 1920 at Cherokee. She died in May, 1933.
He is survived by the daughter at Carmen; four sons, Leon of Goltry, Emmett of Tulsa, Marland of Azusa, Calif., and Wilfred of Hendersonville, Tenn.; five brothers, Pete of Marysville, Mo., Ben of Chickasha, Sam of Halsted, Lewis of Fort Cobb, and Dan of Bethany; five sisters, Mrs. Harrell and Mrs. Schmidt, Carnegie, Mrs. Annie Foglestrom of Cashmere, Wash., Mrs. Kate Unruh of Meno, and Mrs. Philbean Janz of Inola; and 15 grandchildren.
