The Carnegie Herald, Wed., Aug. 16, 1944 C.J. Jantz Dies At Home Near 'Darko
Funeral services for C.J. Jantz, 53, will be held in the Hopewell Baptist church south of Fort Cobb at 2:30 p.m. Friday with Rev. C.A. Reasor and Rev. Rudolph Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant View cemetery. Mr. Jantz had been ill for more than two years and in a critical condition for the past eight months.
Carnelius J. Jantz was born in Margurite, Kans., June 1, 1891, and died Tuesday at his home one mile east of Anadarko. He came to Caddo county in 1907 and farmed south of Fort Cobb for several years. His first wife died in 1933 and last year he was married to Mrs. Frances James, who survives.
Other survivors include his mother, Mrs. J.B. Jantz, south of Fort Cobb; one son, Raymond Jantz, Anadarko; two daughters, Edna Henneka and Evelyn, both of Santa Ana, Calif.; three grandchildren; six brothers, Peter J. Jantz, Maryville, Mo.; Ben J. Jantz, Verden; Samuel J. Jantz, Carnegie; Daniel J. Jantz, Oklahoma City, and William J. and Lewis J. Jantz, both of Fort Cobb, and six sisters, Mrs. Lena Harrell, Slick, Okla.; Mrs. Minnie Schmidt, Carnegie; Mrs. Mary Schmidt, Apache; Mrs. Anna Fogelstrom, Leavinsworth, Wash.; Mrs. Kate Unruh, Minco, and Mrs. Philbina Janz, of Inola, Okla.
