Del Norte, Colo. resident Ernestine Baca, 90, passed away July 6, 2009 at Rio Grande Hospital in Del Norte. Ernestine was born April 8, 1919 in La Veta, Colo. the daughter of Cresencio Naranjo and Luciana Lucero Naranjo. She was united in marriage to Toby Baca Sr. on Aug. 31, 1934 in Del Norte.
Ernestine was a member of the 7th day Adventist Church and enjoyed baking, crocheting, listening to music, and especially the time she spent with her loving family.
Survivors include five daughters Henrietta (Gilbert) Martinez of Denver, Colo, Lucy (Don) Madrid and Priscilla Lucero both of Colorado Springs, Colo, Virginia Valle and Valerie (Leroy) Atencio both of Del Norte; son Toby (Phyllis) Baca Jr. of Natrona Heights, Penn, as well as by 25 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, numerous great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ernestine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Toby Baca Sr., sons Jake and Leroy Baca, three sisters, and three brothers.
A funeral service will be held on Thur, July 9, 2009 at 10 am at the Pioneer United Church in Del Norte. Interment will follow at Del Norte Cemetery. Viewing and visitation will be held Tuesday and Wednesday from 10-5 pm at Romero Funeral Home in Alamosa who is in care of the arrangements.
