LOUISIANA ALLEN JOHNSON

Louisiana Allen Johnson, daughter of Tandy and Joanna Van Nice Allen, was born in Cedar township, Lucas county, Iowa, on June 21, 1863 and departed this life April 25, 1955 at the age of 91 years, 10 months and four days. She was the fifth of 12 children, all of whom lived to maturity and four of whom are still living. They are Mrs. Isabel Goltry, Russell; Chas. E. Allen, Portland, Ore.; Dr. Lloyd R. Allen, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Aylmer Allen, Russell.

When still in her teens she spent a year with her grandmother Van Nice in Indiana and attended school where she formed friendships which were a source of great pleasure to her all her life.

In early life she accepted Christ and united with the Cumberland Presbyterian church at LaGrange and came into the Russell Presbyterian church when the two congregations were united. She continued steadfast in her faith till her death. This faith was a great help to her in her last illness. She, often until the last day, would try to sing the gospel songs.

On March 11, 1885, she was united in marriage to George H. Johnson. This ceremony was performed by her uncle, the Rev. O. C. Hawkins, who was pastor of the LaGrange church at that time. Mr. Johnson died Oct. 10, 1923. To this union were born four children, Elizabeth, who married Lloyd May, Russell, Tandy Allen Johnson, Melfort, Sask., Canada, Floyd Emil Johnson, who died Aug. 24, 1904 at four years of age, Esther Leota, who married Robert Collins of Albion. She is survived by 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was one of the best of mothers, a true friend and neighbor and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services were held at the Russell Presbyterian church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. Fulton of Des Moines.

Those from out of town attending the service were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Collins, Ted and Della Louise, Mr. and Mrs. Ray McNees, Mr. and Mrs. Sanford Collins, Mr. and Mrs. Hart Collins and Mr. and Mrs. J.
