---Maurita Pearl Murphy, age 82, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Thursday (April 12, 2001) at the Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville, Missouri.
---Born December 19, 1918, in LaCrosse, Missouri, she was the daughter of Walter and Lillie (Roberts) Shumaker. On March 29, 1941, in Adair County, she married Floyd Murphy, who preceded her in death in February of 1984.
---Also preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, Floyd and Virgil Shumaker and two sisters, Evelyn Hayden and Laura Brown.
---She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Benny and Marla Murphy of Kirksville, Missouri; one daughter and son-in-law, Pearl and Darrell McMann of Kirksville, Missouri; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Ruby Shumaker of Attica, Kansas and Roy and Opal Shumaker of LaPlata, Missouri; one sister, Thelma Perkins of Centralia, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Deloma Conkin of Kirksville, Missouri; four grandchildren, Neal and wife, Cheryl McMann, Sammy and wife, Kimberly McMann, Marsha Murphy and Mary Murphy; three great-grandchildren, Brady, Savanna and Haley McMann; and one special friend, Billy Aucutt of Novelty, Missouri.
---Maurita received her education at the Murray Rural School in Macon County. She lived on her farm southeast of Millard for the past 61 years. She was an avid gardener, who enjoyed furnishing her friends with fresh vegetables. She enjoyed fishing and loved her children and grandchildren. Maurita was a past-member of the Millard Presbyterian Church and Ladies Aide, and was currently a member of the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in La Plata.

Maurita Pearl Shumaker married her first husband, Sanford Leo Easley, on January 10, 1937 in Elmer, Macon County, Missouri. They had no children and the marriage ended in divorce.
Maurita Pearl Shumaker Easley married her second husband, Benjamin Floyd Murphy, on March 29, 1941 in Adair County, Missouri and they had two children.
