---Benjamin Floyd Murphy, 77, of Rt. 6, Kirksville died at 8:15 p.m. Friday (Feb. 24, 1984) at Grim-Smith Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack while hauling corn near his home.
---Born Sept. 26, 1906 in Adair County, he was the son of James Benjamin and Elizabeth Catherine (Buck) Murphy. On March 29, 1941 in Kirksville, he married Maurita Shumaker who survives.
---Also surviving are a son, Benny Murphy of Rt. 6, Kirksville; a daughter, Mrs. Darrell (Pearl) McMann also of Rt. 6, Kirksville; two grandsons, Neal McMann and Sammy McMann; a granddaughter, Marsha Murphy; a sister, Mrs. Charles (Deloma) Conkin of Kirksville and a brother, George Lee Murphy of Milan.
---Mr. Murphy had farmed all of his life in the Millard and Illinois Bend communities. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kirksville.
---Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday (Feb. 27, 1984) at the La Plata Christian Church with the Rev. J. L. Minshall of Kirksville officiating. Burial will be in the LaPlata Cemetery. Bearers will be Robert Dale Bowen, Terry Davison, Bill Belzer, Lindsay Evans, Eugene Brown and Howard Evans. Rosina Berry will be the organist and Trudy Pollock will be the soloist. The songs will be, "In The Garden" and "How Great Thou Art." The body will be taken from the Pollock Funeral Home in LaPlata to the church at 12 noon Monday.
