FLOYD M. SHUMAKER
---Floyd Manford Shumaker, 72, of La Plata died Tuesday afternoon (April 13) 1982) in Grim-Smith Hospital. He had been in failing health, however, death was unexpected.
---The son of Charles Walter and Lillie Mae Roberts Shumaker, he was born Jan. 25, 1910 in Gifford.
---On Oct. 18, 1930 at Elmer, he married Mabel Belle Neville who survives. Also surviving are two brothers, Robert Shumaker of Attica, KS, and Roy Shumaker of La Plata; four sisters, Mrs. Floyd (Maurita) Murphy of Kirksville, Mrs. Stewart (Thelma Jane) Perkins of Columbia, Mrs. Glenn (Evelyn) Hayden of the state of California and Mrs. Charles (Laura Belle) Brown of Shawnee Mission, KS; one son, the Rev. Leo Shumaker of Washington and one granddaughter, Linda Shumaker.
---He was preceded in death by one daughter, Lula Mae, and one brother, Virgil.
---Mr. Shumaker spent most of his life in the La Plata area.
---For 40 years Mr. Shumaker had been employed with the Santa Fe Railroad. During this time, he served as head of the Track Department for 25 years.
---During World War II, Mr. Shumaker served with the United States Navy.
---He was a member of the Elmer Assembly of God Church.
---Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon (April 15, 1982) in the Travis Funeral Home in La Plata. The Rev. Orville Shriver of La Plata conducted the services. Burial was in the La Plata Cemetery.
