OBITUARY
---Virgil Shumaker, 61, of Davenport, Iowa died there Tuesday morning at 2:30 a.m. after an illness of three months.
---He was born April 28, 1916 near Cardy, Missouri, the son of Charles Walter and Lillie May (Roberts) Shumaker. He married Silvia Elsworth of Novinger, Mo., who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Collene Stewart and Barbara Coffman and one son, Leon Shumaker and six grandchildren, all of Davenport. His mother, Lillie Shumaker of LaPlata; three brothers, Robert of Attica, Kansas, Roy and Floyd Shumaker of LaPlata; four sisters, Ms. Floyd (Maurita) Murphy of Kirksville; Mrs. Glenn (Evelyn) Hayden of Covina, Cal.; Mrs. John (Thelma) Perkins of Columbia, Mo.; Mrs. Charles (Laura) Brown of Shawnee Mission, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his father.
---He was a veteran of W. W. II and a member of the Pentecostal Church. He farmed near LaPlata before moving to Davenport where he worked for the Red Jacket Foundry until his retirement due to ill health.
---Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Range Funeral Home in Davenport with burial in a Davenport Cemetery.
