Rebecca Ann (Beck) Crosby was the daughter of
Rowland Burt Crosby and his second wife Frances
(Fannie) Herring. Unfortunately Fannie Crosby died in 1866, leaving 5 children, one of whom was a newborn. However Roland Crosby, with the help of his older children, kept the family together and they all lived to adulthood.
Rebecca Crosby married George Alexander (Sandy) Mayfield on 13 December 1876 in Clarke County, MS. To this union was born 11 children. All but one of these children lived to adulthood. A son Roland Burt Mayfield was born in 1887 and died when he was 14 months old, in 1888.
When Rebecca became ill, her daughter Maude Mayfield Jordan to her to her home in Ellisville to care for her in her last days. It was at
Maude's home in Ellisville where Rebecca Ann Crosby Mayfield died. She was buried there in the Ellisville Cemetery.
