Obituary
H. C. Mayfield Claimed by Death Tuesday
Hency C. Mayfield, 71, a life time resident and well known
citizen of Laurel, died at the Masonite Hospital at 7:40 PM
Tuesday, after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday from the First Baptist Church with Dr. L. G. Gates in charge, assisted by Rev. T. R. McKibbens, the Rev. John E. Barnes and the Rev. H. L. Gardner.
Mr. Mayfield was a long time member of the First Baptist
of Laurel, an ordained Baptist minister and a charter member of the "Old Timers" Club of Masonite.
Surviving members of his family are his wife, five sons,
H. Leslie (Jack), C. Udell, and Robert C., all of Laurel;
H. Rivers of Buffalo, N. Y. and J. C. of Hattiesburg;
four daughters, Mrs. C. B. Bynum, Mrs. Myra Craft, both of
Laurel; Mrs. Ann Landwehr, and Miss Frances Mayfield,
both of New Orleans; 20 grandchildren and six great
grandchildren; five brothers, G. A., Selma, Alabama;
W. H., Newton; Tom, Enterprise, Mitchell, Shreveport;
and M. W. of North Carolina; two sisters, Mrs. Maude Jordan, Ellisville and Mrs. Marvella Overby, Enterprise.
The following grandsons will serve as pallbearers:
H. L. Mayfield, Jr. George Coke Mayfield, Robert E. Mayfield, George Udell Mayfield, Billy Mack Mayfield,
Andrew Crosby Mayfield, Randolph Maxwell and Billy
Beard.
