Clarence L. Crutchfield was the son of

Stapleton & Sarah Emma Baker Crutchfield.


He married Iva Neal, daughter of Barbara Carter & John Henry Neal in Moberly, Missouri.


Their eight children were:


1. Emma was born in 1910 and married Charles Pace in 1927. They had two sons, the eldest named Elvin and the youngest named Charles Pace (1930). They were both ministers in the Assemby of God churches.


2. Elizabeth was born April 23,1912. She married Richard D. Kirkendoll.


3. Eva married a man named Hess.


4. Paul Lee was born April 7, 1918 and was a WW II Vet. He was in the 3rd Infantry Division in the Battle of the Bulge and won the Golden Star for bravery in combat, as well as other medals. He married Edith Louise Alexander in 1941. They later divorced. He then married Betty Ruth Wheelbarger. He died December 11, 2002.


5. Anna Ruth was born in 1921. Her married name was Johnson.


6. Silas was born on October 22, 1923. He married Margaret Crowley in April 1946. Tragically, he died in an arson fire January 16, 1968 in Moberly, MO.


7. Clarence Edgar was born 1926. He married Mary Evelyn Roberts in 1945. He died in 2000 and is buried in Huntsville Cemetery.


8. Mary Lou was born in 1929 and married Robert R. Webb in 1945. They had two children. Later they were divorced and she married Bill Herron. Together they had a son. A later marriage to Mr. Kilborn produced a daughter.


Clarence L. Crutchfield, 90, 819 Diltz, died at 3 p.m. Monday at Community Memorial Hospital. He was admitted to the hospital Monday morning.

He was born here June 11, 1887, and had lived here all his life. He was the son of Stapleton and Barbara Baker Crutchfield. He was a retired farmer and member of the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church. He had been married 69 years. His wife, Iva Neal Crutchfield, survives.

Other survivors are two sons, Paul and Edgar, Moberly; five daughters, Mrs. Emma Pace, Moberly; Mrs. Elizabeth Kirkendoll, Tulsa, Okla.; Mrs. Eva Hess, Moberly; Mrs. Ann Johnson, Moberly; and Mrs. Mary Kilbourn, Moberly; brother, Arthur Crutchfield, Moberly; and two sisters, Mrs. Mable Gaines and Mrs. Pearl Kirkendoll, both of Moberly.

A son, Silas, preceded him in death.

Also surviving are 28 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Million-Greer Chapel, with burial in Oakland Cemetery. The Rev. Stanley Kostencki will officiate. Visitation was to begin at 4 p.m. today.
