Her Obituary appeared in the Moberly Weekly Monitor, July 29, 1904 and reads as follows:
"Mrs. Emma Crutchfield died at the family residence southwest of Moberly yesterday morning at 10 o'clock after a short illness of quick consumption.
She was an earnest Christian woman doing all she could in her humble way for her neighbors and friends. She is survived by 5 sons and three daughters. One of the sad features of this case is that her son, William, preceded her only a few weeks and another son is not expected to survive her many days. All were aflicted with the same disease.
Funeral services at Hagar chapel this afternoon conducted by Rev. North."
The disease mentioned in the article was tuberculosis.
